Good Infrastructure Gets Out of Your Way

A few principles that guide how we think about the developer experience at Hostless.

Make the common path clear

A developer should be able to understand what happens between a code change and a running application. Clear build output, visible deployment status, and useful logs all contribute to that understanding.

Keep complexity in the right place

Infrastructure has plenty of moving parts. A platform’s job is to offer useful controls without making every developer learn every underlying detail before they can ship.

Give people useful feedback

When something fails, the next step should be discoverable. A helpful error message explains what happened and points toward an action the developer can take.

These principles are a starting point for the engineering stories we’ll share here.
